I need to know who is coming to my event?
IRIS Express lets you run a report on all the ticket purchasers for each event with how many tickets each person has bought.
Can I “sell” free tickets?
Yes. You can use IRIS Express to ticket free events. You do not need to have a PayPal account if you are only selling free tickets, but just set the ticket price to zero.
How do I get money from tickets that I sell?
If you want to collect money from the sale of your tickets in advance, then you need a PayPal merchant account.
What methods of payment can I offer?
With your PayPal account, you can accept credit and debit cards and can also let your customers pay by PayPal using their own PayPal account.
I don’t have a Paypal account; how can I take money for my event?
You can sign up instantly for your PayPal account. Once you have your account details, just enter them into your account settings page.
Can I take money on the door for my tickets?
Yes, just set up a ticket type with the ticket description as e.g. “Pay £20 on the door” and the price of the ticket as zero.
How can I check whether a ticket has already been used?
When you validate a ticket, IRIS Express tells you whether it is a valid ticket (i.e. the customer is presenting a ticket for the right event) and whether the ticket has already been used or not.
Can I validate a ticket?
You can validate a ticket in two ways. Firstly, tickets can be validated automatically by scanning the bar code on each ticket or typing the bar code number manually into the scan tickets page. Secondly, you can print a door report that you can use to manually check off the ticket holders on entry.
What if my customer loses their tickets or their email with the link to their tickets?
The customer can use the confirmation email to follow the link to reprint their tickets. Alternatively, should they have lost their email confirmation, you can search for their booking and email the customer the link to let them reprint their tickets again. Finally, you can find their booking details in your customer report or door report and verify them manually.
How do I refund someone’s tickets?
You can refund bookings through your PayPal account. Please review your PayPal account documentation to see how you can process refunds.
What if a customer prints off their tickets twice or more?
Each ticket has a unique number that you can validate. Each ticket also has the purchaser’s name on the ticket and a unique number and a bar code. You can either scan these bar codes or type the number into the screen as the customer enters the event (which then marks the tickets as used) or manually check off the tickets against a door report as each customer enters.
